Equine Surgeon
Brazos Valley Equine Hospital is seeking to add
an ACVS board-certified or eligible veterinarian
with a strong interest in western performance,
racing and rodeo sports medicine to join our
team of dedicated veterinarians.
Brazos Valley Equine Hospital—Navasota is a
primary and referral hospital located 60 miles
north of Houston, Texas. The practice is
progressive with a surgery suite, 2
recovery/induction stalls, and facilities to
hospitalize 50+ patients. We are staffed by
multiple board-certified specialists in Internal
Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency/Critical Care.
Originally built in 1987 with the latest
addition completed in 2005, BVEH-Navasota
provides full services including an on-site
pharmacy, laboratory, and climate-controlled
Intensive Care Unit.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical expertise in the areas
of lameness; sports medicine and
therapeutics; orthopedic, airway, and soft
tissue surgeries; emergency and critical
care; and ultrasonography.
- Develop a relationship with the existing
client base and growing the patient
caseload.
- Participate in rotating emergency call.
- Provide routine primary care to haul-in
clients and limited ambulatory call to local
ranches.
- Provide consultation to clients,
industry, and private veterinarians.
- Perform diagnostic ultrasonography.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of
hospital interns.
- Participate in daily case rounds and
weekly journal clubs.
- Provide continuing education
presentations and publications for
veterinarians, veterinary students, and
clients.
- Occasional travel to racetracks, horse
shows, and referring veterinary clinics to
build rapport and establish relationships
with clientele and referring veterinarians.
- Participate in regional and national
equine veterinary organizations
Requirements - We seek a team-oriented
veterinarian with excellent communication and
people skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire
to provide the exceptional client service
necessary to grow the caseload. The successful
applicant will possess a DVM or equivalent, and
be eligible for board certification with the
American College of Veterinary Surgeons and
licensure in Texas. Preference will be given to
applicants with experience and/or interest in
western performance and racing sports medicine.
Interest in veterinary chiropractics and primary
care a plus.
Compensation – Salary is negotiable and
dependent on prior experience We offer a very

memberships. If needed, there will be time off
for board preparation.
