Interns

2011-2012 Interns
Dr. Courtney Boysen is a 2011 graduate of Kansas State University. She attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate degree and showed competitive Saddlebreds. Courtney is interested in internal medicine and critical care.

Dr. Sylvia Maliye is a 2008 graduate of Edinburgh University and completed a surgical internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Kentucky. She returned to England to be with her family prior to starting the internship at BVEH and has a particular interest in surgery and lameness.

Dr. Michelle Milton attended Texas A&M University for both undergrad and veterinary school. She competed in high school and college rodeo, and is a 2011 graduate of TAMU’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Michelle plans to continue her career in Texas as an ambulatory clinician following completion of her internship. She is currently working toward certification in Veterinary Accupuncture through the Chi Institute.

2010-2011 Interns
Dr. Joanne Haughan is a 2010 graduate of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria. She is interested in Western performance horses and rides reiners and cutters. Joanne has a particular interest in sports medicine and surgery. Following completion of her internship she joined the Orthopedic Translational Research Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center.

Dr. Talissa Martins is from San Paulo, Brazil and obtained her veterinary degree in 2008. She has been gaining veterinary experience in the United States since graduation. Talissa is interested in diagnostic imaging, including radiography and advanced ultrasound imaging of horses. Following completion of her internship she returned to work in Brazil near her family.

Dr. Jose Narranjo obtained his veterinary doctorate in 2009 from Central University of Ecuador. He is certified in chiropractics and acupuncture and has particular interest in sports medicine. Following completion of his internship he returned to his equine practice in Ecuador.
